The Clock is Ticking - Last Minute Halloween Decor
Believe it or not, it’s that time of year when all the ghouls and goblins
come out of the woodwork for just one night to try and scare us again. Yes, tomorrow is Halloween. I remember Halloween last year when along with my girlfriend Nancy we took her ten year also son up and down the block with a bunch of the other neighborhood kids and their parents. It was fun, it was dark, the air had a chill in it and the neighborhood had that Halloween feel. But, not only were the kids dressed up in every way possible, many of the houses on the block were dressed up in Halloween décor making them look really cool and spooky.
If you still have not gotten your Halloween decorations up, do not worry, there is still time. Here are a couple of Halloween decoration ideas that will not cost very much and get you in the Halloween spirit.
1. Turn off the lights - if you are looking for a great way to set the mood how about lighting your home by candles. There is nothing more eerie than house that is completely dark except for a few candles burning in the front window.
Now of course quite a bit of caution has to be taken here, candles are very dangerous! The other thing here is to make sure that you do have some low lighting especially outside for safety as well. You may want to consider small accent lights that run on batteries and can be purchased at your local home center.
2. Decorate, Decorate, Decorate - There are many homemade Halloween decorations that are relatively inexpensive and take only minutes to set up. One of my favorites is the hanging, bats but you can also create ghosts, pumpkins, spiders, and other spooky creatures. All you need is some ingenuity and some construction paper.
How about some ghosts? Ghost can easily be made by blowing up some balloons and then covering them in bed sheets or another light weight material. Tie a string around the neck, paint the face with a marker and then hang them from a tree using fishing line and you have some really cool ghosts. The tombstones are also kind of cool and although they are not expensive can even be made out of cardboard.
Be creative, look around your house, there are many things that you can use.
3. Pumpkins - And, what Halloween would be complete without pumpkins? A couple of pumpkins lining the steps to your home are always a nice touch. In fact, how about decorating those pumpkins? They can be carved into a jack-o-lantern in not too much time. They can also be painted.
It doesn’t take a lot to decorate for Halloween, you just need to get in that Halloween spirit. Enjoy a safe Halloween!
